Test centres will now have to apply for authorisation every 10 years.
If you’re an existing authorised test centre:
How to apply for renewal of authorisation:
We’ll be monitoring test centres and testers with random inspections as well as installing CCTV in each testing centre.
We’ll be inspecting test centres to make sure that they’re up to our standards.
This means that we’ll test
After inspections, we’ll give each test centre a risk rating, which will focus our future inspections. The better your risk rating, the fewer inspections you’ll get.
The CCTV and ANPR (Automated number plate recognition) cameras installed by the Authority record activity on the test lane(s) and the data is stored on the Authority’s computer systems for a number of months. The evidence stored by CCTV and ANPR cameras will be used for commercial vehicle testing quality review purposes and may form part of any investigation into commercial vehicle testing. Activities that are not related to the testing of commercial vehicles are not a matter for the Authority. The Road Safety Authority will at all times comply with the requirements of Data Protection legislation.
